Some one hundred government officers and working staff took part in a tree planting activity at the Fuxihe Greenway in the Yantan District of Zigong City, Sichuan Province. This event was part of Tree Planting Day, which falls on March 12 every year. A total of 500 cherry trees were planted on the day, which covered an area of 1.7 hectares.
When complete, the Fuxihe Greenway Project is expected to showcase the best of the region’s unique salt culture, the distinctive style of an ancient town and beautiful natural scenery. The project, which covers an area of 5.78 square kilometers, is estimated to attract 30,000 to 50,000 tourists every day and bring in 100 million yuan in annual revenue from its tourism-related activities.
The Zigong High-tech Zone and some other districts and counties will also hold tree planting activities in the coming days.
