The first session of the Zigong Belt and Road Salt City "Women in Innovation" Forum was held in Zigong City, Sichuan Province, on March 6, in anticipation of the International Women's Day on March 8.

The Zigong Women's Federation awarded exemplary women who have made significant contributions in distinctive activities and industries like salt, tea, new materials, dinosaur fossil research, lantern production, providing medical aid to the needy in Africa, and being part of the China-Germany Vocational Education Pilot Program. Ten women were awarded during the forum and four representatives delivered speeches centering on themes relating to the Belt and Road Initiative, craftsmanship inheritance, innovation and entrepreneurship.

The Zigong Women's Federation also signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the Sichuan Free Trade Zone to give more exposure to women's role in developing the region's salt industry and promoting people-to-people exchanges among countries along the Belt and Road Initiative.
