Zigong welcomes 867,400 tourists during Qingming Festival holiday

The city of Zigong in Sichuan province welcomes 867,400 tourists during the three-day Qingming Festival holiday from April 5 to 7, up by 15.34 percent year on year, according to the Zigong Municipal Culture, Radio, Television and Tourism Bureau on April 8. Tourism revenue totaled 445 million yuan, marking a yearly increase of 16.79 percent.


A-rated scenic spots like the Dinosaur Museum, Rong County Giant Buddha, and others in Zigong received 227,400 tourists, while the occupancy rate of the main hotels in the city reached 85 percent during the holiday period.

Rape flowers, cherries, peach blossoms, tulips, and roses have been in full bloom across Zigong since March and scenic spots with flowers, including the Flying Dragon Gorge, Rose Sea, Flower Scent Park and others, were especially popular during the festival.

A series of festivals like the First Rong County Tea Tourism Festival, the Fourth Yantan Tulip Rural Tourism Festival, the 20th Ziliujing Flying Dragon Gorge Peach Blossom Tourism Festival and others also attracted many tourists during the holiday period.
