The city of Zigong has set up 1,226 family physician teams to offer multiple, comprehensive and consecutive medical services. The contract signing rate of family physician services reached 47.41 percent among urban and rural citizens across Zigong, according to the spokesperson for the Zigong Municipal Health Commission on May 28.

In April 2017, the Maojiaba Community Health Service Station in Ziliujing District, Zigong City, took the lead in offering personalized health care for the elderly through a panel of family physicians. These family physicians provided services like health assessments, vital signs monitoring, traditional Chinese medical care and so on for the elderly every week and kept in contact with their sons and daughters on their medical condition. The project won great recognition and has been widely promoted since its launch.

The Maojiaba Community Health Service Station now serves eight communities with 40,000 residents and has four family physician teams comprising general practitioners, nurses and health workers who can offer door-to-door services giving medical consultations, physical examinations, rehabilitation therapy and so on. In the first four months of this year, the contract signing rate of family physician service at the station reached 24.97 percent.
