The 2019 Sichuan International Cultural Tourism Festival kicked off in Zigong city, Sichuan Province, on Sept. 10. The Second Zigong International Dinosaur Lights Festival also started at the same time.
Distinctive songs and dances with Zigong characteristics were performed at the opening ceremony. An acrobatic dance drama titled "Saltern Picture Scroll" displayed the salt making scenes in Zigong and highlighted the hard-working spirit of salt workers. A colorful firework show was also held at the ceremony. A sightseeing tour on the Fuxi River in Zigong featuring historical relics and scenery spots on its banks officially opened to the public at the ceremony.
The festival will last until Oct. 7 and has 20 activities like the Sichuan International Cultural Tourism Investment Fair, the Third Sichuan Tourism New Media Marketing Conference, the Second Zigong Tourism Commodity Expo, among others. The scenic spots, hotels, restaurants and other places of business in Zigong will offer various discount activities during the festival.
This is the 12th session of the festival since it was first held in 2003 and the tourism revenue in Sichuan Province reached 690.65 billion yuan from January to July this year, up 14.2 percent year on year.
