The "Chengdu Europe+" ASEAN International Train was launched in Zigong City, Sichuan Province, on Dec. 26.

At 10:00 a.m., the train departed from the Chengdu International Railway Port in Chengdu City, Sichuan Province. After arrival in Zigong, it was loaded with 300 tons of cables and glass fibers made in Zigong. It then left for Qinzhou Port in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region from the South Railway Station in Zigong City. The cargo will then be transported to the destination countries of Thailand and Philippines by sea. The rail route can save much time compared with traditional waterway transportation via the Yangtze River.

Over the past few years, the city of Zigong has enhanced the development of the 40-square-kilometer Southwest China (Zigong) International Land Port, forming a railway container logistics center, highway and aviation transportation centers, and so on, serving as an important transportation hub on the routes of the Belt and Road Initiative.
