Zigong has rich cultural and tourism sectors, boasting everything from the home of Jiang Zhuyun – also known as Sister Jiang, an underground member of the Communist Party of China and a revolutionary martyr – to its well salt industry, dinosaur fossils, and ancient lantern making traditions. Over the past years, Zigong has treated its cultural and tourism industry as a pillar for building a modern industrial system and is gradually building it into an all-area tourism city.

According to the plan, the added value of the cultural and tourism industry in Zigong is expected to reach 10 billion yuan by 2024, accounting for 5% of its GDP. Meanwhile, the city plans to have 100 cultural and tourism enterprises above designated size by 2024.
