A news briefing on the quintessential characteristics of Zigong city was held in the city Dec. 20. The expression of these characteristics and their unique connotations, values and significance were elaborated during the conference.
"Having the general situation in mind, open, inclusive, innovative, creative, responsible, working hard, in solidarity and making contributions" make up the definitive character of Zigong city, said Miao Tiqiang, deputy director of the Zigong Municipal Publicity Department, during the briefing. He added that these words embody the city's vision, ambition, inclusivity, ideology, inspiration and spirit.
The character of a city is forged from its historical development across a myriad of factors including economics, politics, culture and the society at large. Miao explained that summarizing the characteristics of Zigong city had been a collaborative activity that brought together residents from all walks of life and was ultimately established after careful deliberation. As such, Zigong will now promote and practice this shared spirit across the city and continue to build itself into a model city for deepening reforms and opening-up in the new era, Miao concluded.
