The Zigong Aviation Industrial Park enlisted the 10th batch of National New Industrialization Demonstration Bases, according to a list released by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology on March 15.

Located in Gongjing district, Zigong city, the Zigong Aviation Industrial Park was established in 2015 and has since introduced 45 key projects and eight leading drone enterprises. It has advantages in airspace, airports, bearing capacity, and industrial structure.

In 2021, the AVIC Chengdu Aircraft Industrial (Group) Co. Ltd. signed an agreement with the Zigong Municipal Government to develop China’s largest drone industrial base in the park. “The general assembly of the first drone in the park was completed in June last year and realized its maiden flight in November. After the project is completed, over 100 large drones will be able to be manufactured annually with an output value of over 10 billion yuan,” said Huang Tao, deputy director of the Zigong Aviation Industrial Park Economic Development Bureau.

Being a core platform for aviation development in the park, the Zigong Fengming General Aviation Aerodrome has now opened 14 flight routes connecting Zigong with Mianyang, Xichang, Chengdu, Chongqing, and other cities. The Zigong Lantian Airport completed construction in November last year and offers tests for unpiloted aircraft take-off, landing, and runway glides. The Zigong Aviation Industrial Park has become the first of its kind in China to have two airports.

By now, the Zigong Aviation Industrial Park has formed a complete industrial chain covering platform construction, drone production, R&D, sales, and personnel training, among other areas.
