On June 18, the Zigong Dinosaur Cultural and Scientific Industrial Park will be opened to the public and the first session of the Zigong International Dinosaur Cultural Tourism Festival will begin, according to a press briefing held on June 9.
Targeting parent and child tourists during the summer vacation, the festival themed with dinosaurs and traditional Chinese culture will last until the end of August, according to Zhou Yun, vice-mayor of Zigong.
During the festival, being part of the Zigong Dinosaur Cultural and Scientific Industrial Park, the Zigong Fantawild Dinosaur Kingdom, with a total investment of 3.8 billion yuan, will begin to receive tourists. Through advanced technologies like AR and VR, prehistoric scenes of primitive forests, wetlands, and marshes will offer tourists immersive interactive experiences.
At the same time, the Time and Space Longmen Town, being another part of the Zigong Dinosaur Cultural and Scientific Industrial Park, will become the first commercial complex themed with dinosaur culture in Zigong. It includes restaurants, hotels, and cultural product shops, she noted.
Later during the festival, the Dinosaur Exploration Museum will be launched in Zigong in August. Built on the site of the dinosaur unearthed in the Dashanpu area of Zigong, the 3,333-square-meter museum displays the origin, evolution, reign, and extinction of the dinosaurs.
Sideline activities such as the launch ceremony of a dinosaur scientific popularization picture book, and a symposium themed on the 50th anniversary of the discovery of the Dashanpu Dinosaur Fossil Site, will also be held at the same time. In addition, the Zigong Dinosaur Museum, the Zigong Municipal Salt Industry History Museum, and the China Lantern Museum will jointly hold scientific popularization activities for students during the festival, according to the conference.
