A conference on advancing high-quality industrial development through key projects was convened in Zigong city, Sichuan province, on Oct. 14. The conference also featured sideline activities like a field research tour, a construction speed competition, an on-the-spot meeting and a contract signing ceremony.
A total of 10 outstanding entrepreneurs, 10 industrial enterprises and 20 growing industrial enterprises across Zigong were honored during the conference.
"Industrial development is the cornerstone of economic progress," said He Li, the Secretary of the Zigong Municipal Party Committee, at the conference. Zigong is still in the middle stage of industrialization, so industrial development should be treated as the source and trunk and promoted to realize high-end development, he added.
He also emphasized that breakthroughs should be made in industry clustering development by absorbing key projects and cultivating competitive, distinctive industries and local businesses in Zigong. In addition, more emphasis should be laid upon the establishment of financing platforms, the processes of industrialization and digitization by developing cloud computing, the Internet of Things, big industrial data and the industrial internet, he said.
According to the contract signing ceremony, 22 project contracts were signed with a total investment of 18.92 billion yuan ($2.62 billion), covering sodium-ion batteries, drone composite material manufacturing and more.
