The China Lantern World in Zigong city, Sichuan province, was listed as one of 12 National Tourism Technology Demonstration Parks in 2022 by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism on Dec. 29, 2022.

The China Lantern World has received 2.3 million tourists since it opened three years ago. Meanwhile, their live broadcasts of lanterns over the past two years have reached 1.1 billion people around the world. It has applied innovate digitalization technology and lantern-making techniques, created interactive experiences and promoted online appreciation through platforms such as Weibo and WeChat. The park has also established an electronic tourist guide system using VR and 5G technologies and improved management efficiency by setting up a big data management center, an auto-alarm fire extinguishing system, and the application of intelligent electronic box technology.

Currently, China Lantern World is preparing for the 29th Zigong International Dinosaur Lantern Festival, which will be China's first immersive lantern show integrating both stories and games. The event is expected to be metaverse-enabled and incorporate lantern appreciation, catering, entertainment, performances, and online and offline interactions to make breakthroughs in the night tourism industry.
