Zigong receives 1 million tourists during Spring Festival

The city of Zigong, Sichuan province, welcomed 1.06 million tourists during the seven-day Spring Festival holiday from Jan. 21 to 26, up 46.6% year on year, according to official statistics. Ticket sales also rose 77% to 51.3 million yuan ($7.6 million).

The city, which hosted over 100 cultural tourism events under the theme, “Sichuan cuisine and lantern festival with Zigong flavor,” showcased traditional Spring Festival customs and intangible cultural heritage with distinctive local features.

The 29th Zigong International Dinosaur Festival, an immersive lantern show integrating both stories and games, received 400,000 tourists during the holiday.

The Fuxi River Night Tour, featuring light shows, stunts, art performances, and gourmet tasting activities, boosted the city's night tourism sector.

The Zigong Fantawild Dinosaur Kingdom, which featured various high-tech performances, received 100,000 tourists.

Meanwhile, scientific popularization activities at the Zigong Dinosaur Museum, the Salt Industry Museum and the China Lantern Museum were also popular during the holiday.
