Lantern carnival to kick off in Zigong

A Mid-autumn Festival and National Day-themed lantern carnival will kick off at the Chinese Lantern World in Zigong city, Sichuan province, on Sept. 28, according to a news briefing held on Sept. 25. Aside from the carnival, some 38 cultural and tourism activities will be held at the Fantawild Dinosaur Kingdom, Xianshi Ancient Town, and other tourism spots across Zigong during the eight-day, back-to-back holiday, according to announcements made at the conference. A performance featuring bamboo, salt, lanterns, and other distinctive Zigong elements was presented after the briefing. According to the conference, the carnival, which is different from previous lantern shows in Zigong held during the Spring Festival, will highlight visitors’ experiences by offering lantern appreciation, sightseeing, and entertainment simultaneously and will present traditional Chinese culture through elements of poetry, stories, and legends via various interactive activities. Time-honored brands and intangible cultural heritages will also be showcased during the carnival.
