The 30th Zigong International Dinosaur Lantern Festival is set to open at the China Lantern World in Zigong, Sichuan province, on Feb. 2. With four sections, titled Symphony of China, Joy of the Prosperous Era, Chinese New Year Flavor and Romantic China, the lantern show will encompass 27 segments and over 1,000 lantern installations. It will incorporate elements of Chinese culture with the radiant lights, showcasing China's rich and vibrant cultural heritage.

This year will feature installations including a blend of Zigong lanterns and Dunhuang murals, a 10-meter-high porcelain cauldron display formed by over 100,000 ceramics pieces, a group of Zigong dinosaurs known as the "13 Dinosaur Guardians," a huge peacock lantern adorned with 30,000 acrylic feathers and much more.

The use of nearly 30 types of special materials, including artificial leather, blown plastic paper, CDs, plastic bottles and recycled tires in the lantern-making process showcases a fusion of traditional craftsmanship with innovative technologies. This approach aims to highlight various features of the lanterns such as form, color, sound, light and motion, creating a dynamic and visually stunning display.

More than 100 actors will also perform in eight areas throughout the park. The main stage will host a large-scale song and dance show featuring performances like lion dances, acrobatics and ethnic group-inspired carnival.

On the opening day, a spectacular drone show with 2,024 unmanned aerial vehicles will be presented, while a pair of custom-made dragon-phoenix wing-flapping machines will showcase aerobatic performances every evening. During the Spring Festival holiday, 600 drones will also perform nighttime shows for visitors.
