Cultural and tourism trade promotion event held in Zigong

The festival products session of the "Finest Cultural Gifts from China" Cultural and Tourism Trade Promotion Event commenced in Zigong city, Sichuan province, on Jan. 26.

This event is a part of the Joyful Chinese New Year 2024 activities, organized by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. This session is hosted by the Culture and Tourism Department of Sichuan Province and the People's Government of Zigong City.

The opening ceremony showcased traditional crafts and cultural products, such as Zigong lanterns, Liling fireworks, Jingdezhen ceramics, Hengshui Chinese knots, and other unique festive products. Local performances, including Zigong acrobatics, Sichuan opera face-changing, and fire-breathing, created a festive atmosphere on site.

This session adopted a hybrid approach, combining online and offline activities, and provided simultaneous live broadcasts accessible globally. A total of 1.2 million participants were involved, including 500,000 from overseas. Overseas audiences from the U.S., France, Germany, the U.K., and more expressed admiration for Chinese lanterns and a desire to visit China for its cuisine, scenery, and culture. The Zigong Overseas Lantern Exhibition will span the entire year, with over 100 exhibitions planned in over 80 cities across 20 countries. It is expected to attract 30 million visitors.
