Zigong High-Tech Zone hosts Lantern Festival carnival

The second session of the Zigong High-Tech Zone Lantern Festival Intangible Cultural Heritage Carnival kicked off at Bailu Square in Zigong, Sichuan province, on Feb. 24.  

A series of folk performances including Sichuan opera, acrobatics and intangible cultural heritage displays, were presented on stage at the event, offering citizens a cultural feast in a festive atmosphere.

Inheritors of Zigong's intangible cultural heritage, including tie-dyeing, Gong fans, paper-cutting, as well as Zigong copper teapot tea art, Li-style bamboo and wood carving, and Hu-style clay sculpture, showcased the techniques at the event and interacted with visitors.

A variety of games and activities including lantern riddles, pitching coins into pots, catching sweet dumplings and blindfolded lantern painting were also held in the square.
