Zigong launches cultural festival to mark the 75th anniversary of PRC

A series of cultural events kicked off in Zigong, Sichuan province, on Sept. 20 to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, coinciding with the opening of the 10th Zigong Community Arts Festival.

The festival offers a variety of performances and exhibitions, including the premiere of the modern Sichuan opera "Chasing the Light," square dancing competitions, street dance contests, classical poetry recitations, acrobatic performances and folk art displays. The first Farmers' Painting Exhibition, themed around rural revitalization, is also part of the lineup.

The festivities began on Sept. 19 and will run through Oct. 8.
