Zigong draws 800,000 tourists during National Day holiday

Over 800,000 visitors flocked to Zigong city, Sichuan province, during the National Day holiday from Oct. 1-7, with 16 A-level tourist attractions receiving 712,800 tourists.

The city hosted the Third Zigong International Dinosaur Culture and Tourism Festival under the theme "Amazing Zigong: Enjoy the Golden Autumn." The event showcased the city's diversity through four themed tour routes, featuring dinosaur excavation sites, traditional salt-based cuisine, ancient towns and landmarks of revolutionary history.

The festival also featured more than 100 cultural and tourism activities focused on urban leisure, family learning trips, intangible cultural heritage events and local food experiences.

Key attractions, including the Zigong Dinosaur Museum, Salt Industry History Museum and Shenhai Well, saw nearly 300,000 visitors.

Rural towns offered various activities, drawing crowds with local cuisine, traditional folk crafts and harvest festivals. The city also held about 50 cultural events during the holiday, including concerts, art performances and recitations marking the 75th anniversary of the People's Republic of China.
