Zigong hosts conference to boost lantern industry, night tourism

Nearly 200 participants from across China gathered in Zigong for a conference on May 18-19 focused on night tourism and the lantern industry.

The 2025 Zigong Lantern and Night Tour Economy Innovation and Sharing Trade Conference, themed "Lanterns Illuminate the Night, Light Ignites New Tours," aimed to boost the development of China's growing night economy sector.

During the opening ceremony, a series of cooperation agreements were signed between lantern companies in Zigong and domestic and international partners.

The conference also featured the Zigong Lantern Industry Chain Resource Exchange Session, where seven industry experts shared insights on market trends, challenges and best practices.

Additionally, a showcase of lantern designs and cultural products from 23 Chinese companies opened alongside the conference in an exhibition titled "Lanterns Illuminate Nightlife." The products highlighted the increasing diversity and creativity of China's lantern industry.

Attendees toured several Zigong attractions, including Chinese Lantern World, the Lantern Cuisine and Commercial Block of the Zigong Huashang Mall and local manufacturing facilities. The visits were organized to showcase innovative applications and industrial developments in the lantern sector.

Zigong is home to more than 2,000 cultural enterprises, including specialized small- and medium-sized businesses, and has been designated as one of China's national cultural export bases and a national base for foreign cultural trade.
