The rollout ceremony for Volant Aerotech's first VE25-100 prototype was held at Fengming Airport in the Zigong Aviation Industrial Park, Sichuan province, on May 23. The event marks a significant step forward in the development of the low-altitude economy industrial chain in the city of Zigong.

The VE25-100 is a mid-to-short-range electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft designed for both passenger and cargo transport. With a range of 200 to 400 kilometers and a cruising speed of 235 km/h, the aircraft can accommodate six passengers in its spacious cabin. It is engineered for a variety of uses, including passenger commuting, cargo delivery and emergency medical services — covering a total of six major eVTOL application scenarios.

After five months of rigorous evaluation, the VE25-100 series has been officially named the "Skylar" — Volant's commercial brand for its eVTOL lineup.

Volant's intelligent manufacturing facility in Zigong is expected to reach an annual production capacity of 300 aircraft, generating more than 7.5 billion yuan in output value. The project is set to become a new economic growth driver for the region.

In recent years, the Zigong Aviation Industrial Park has accelerated its efforts across low-altitude manufacturing, service operations and application development. It is now home to China's largest industrial base for medium and large drones, hosting over 60 enterprises across the supply chain. The park features a dual-airport system, premium airspace resources and a complete ecosystem of funding and infrastructure support, along with several newly launched specialized air routes.
