Weflying Technology unveiled the world's first tethered firefighting drone system Tuesday during a signing ceremony for major low-altitude economy projects at the Zigong Aviation Industrial Park in Sichuan province.

The "Aoqin" drone system represents several domestic firsts for China: the first certified tethered firefighting drone, the first certified ducted fan firefighting drone and the first certified heavy-lift firefighting drone.

The drone can tackle urban high-rise fires, offshore platform emergencies and wildfires, making firefighting faster and more effective. Mass production is underway, with deployment expected for frontline emergency operations by year's end.

Zigong signed eight major projects related to the low-altitude economy worth 2.68 billion yuan ($374 million) total at Tuesday's event. The projects cover drone manufacturing, aviation engine components, airborne avionics systems and counter-drone technologies.

Separately, the "Sci-Tech Innovation Tour: Zigong" roadshow generated 15 cooperative agreements totaling 23.27 million yuan, further boosting the city's growing low-altitude economy.
