Sichuan province has extended an open invitation to visitors from home and abroad to experience the festive charm of the Spring Festival, as it rolls out a wide range of cultural, tourism and consumption-promoting activities during the upcoming holiday.

The news briefing for the 32nd Zigong International Dinosaur Lantern Festival, along with the province-wide Spring Festival cultural and tourism promotion campaign, was held on Jan. 18 in Zigong, Sichuan province. During the holiday period, Sichuan will host more than 2,000 integrated activities spanning culture, tourism, commerce and sports. A series of consumer incentives, including consumption vouchers, ticket discounts and enhanced service guarantees, will also be introduced to stimulate holiday spending and improve visitor experiences.

As the flagship event of Sichuan's Spring Festival celebrations, the Zigong International Dinosaur Lantern Festival will once again take center stage. An official from the Information Office of the Sichuan Provincial Government said that the internationally renowned lantern festival will serve as the opening highlight of the holiday season. It connects cultural, commercial and sporting events across the province to boost festive consumption. The 32nd edition of the festival will feature four major new highlights, creating an immersive light-and-shadow spectacle.

The lantern festival, however, represents only a part of Sichuan's broader Spring Festival cultural landscape. This year, the province has innovatively introduced a "1+10+N" province-wide activity matrix. The "1" refers to the Zigong lantern festival as the leading event, while the "10" represents ten flagship themed programs covering areas such as ancient Shu culture, revolutionary heritage, music and performing arts, wellness tourism, rural New Year traditions, youth-oriented trends, panda-themed experiences, winter sports, industrial exploration, museum and cultural studies and sports competitions. The "N" stands for a wide array of local distinctive activities across the province, including intangible cultural heritage performances, folk parades and New Year markets.

Adding to the festive atmosphere, Sichuan will host 22 large-scale concerts during the Spring Festival holiday. To further encourage cross-city travel and consumption, Sichuan has also introduced a coordinated incentive mechanism. Visitors holding tickets to the China Lantern World in Zigong will be eligible for linked consumption discounts in several neighboring cities, including Deyang, Mianyang, Suining and Ziyang, enabling tourists to explore multiple destinations with a single ticket.

With a vibrant mix of traditional culture, modern entertainment and consumer-friendly policies, Sichuan aims to offer visitors a memorable Spring Festival experience filled with the unique flavor of Bashu culture.
