The Zigong Talent Innovation Development Conference, alongside the ninth Salt City Talent Month, officially opened in Zigong, Sichuan province, on April 7, highlighting the city's continued push to attract talent and drive innovation-led growth.
At the opening ceremony, the Zigong Industrial Transformation and Upgrading Guidance Fund was formally introduced, with the aim of supporting key industries and attracting high-impact projects. The initiative is expected to strengthen breakthroughs in major projects.
During the event, Zigong also unveiled its open competition mechanism for selecting the best candidates to lead research projects, which is designed to connect enterprise needs with scientific and technological expertise nationwide. Under the model of "enterprises set the questions, the government posts the challenges and experts provide solutions," selected projects will receive financial support and full-cycle services to facilitate implementation.
In addition, awards and certificates were presented to innovation teams and leading professionals selected for the 2026 Salt City Top Talent Program, as well as to the city's 13th group of expert workstations. A total of 11 cooperation agreements were also signed at the conference, covering areas such as industry-academia collaboration, talent recruitment and sci-tech cooperation, with several industrial projects set to be launched locally.
Now in its ninth edition, the Salt City Talent Month will run through April 30, featuring a series of activities aimed at fostering innovation and strengthening talent engagement.
Zigong has made significant progress in developing its innovation ecosystem. The city is now home to 181 national- and provincial-level high-capacity innovation platforms, 24 pilot testing platforms and 210 high-tech enterprises. Its total talent pool has reached 638,000, providing a strong foundation for high-quality development.
